Typical wear of marine engine "cylinder liner-piston ring"

2020-07-13

Based on the analysis of the basic causes of wear, the "cylinder liner-piston ring" part of the marine engine includes the following four typical wear forms:

(1) Fatigue wear is the phenomenon that the friction surface generates large deformation and stress in the contact area and forms cracks and is destroyed. Fatigue wear belongs to the friction loss of mechanical components in the normal range;

(2) Abrasive wear is the phenomenon that hard-textured particles cause abrasions and surface material shedding on the surface of the friction pair of relative motion. Excessive abrasive wear will polish the engine cylinder wall, which directly leads to the difficulty of lubricating oil on the surface of the cylinder wall. The oil film causes increased wear and tear, and aluminum and silicon in the fuel are the main causes of abrasive wear;

(3) Adhesion and abrasion is due to the increase in external pressure or the failure of the lubricating medium, the "adhesion" of the friction couple's surface occurs. Adhesion and abrasion is a very serious type of wear, which can cause the peeling of the special material coating on the surface of the cylinder liner , Causing serious harm to the normal operation of the engine;

(4) corrosion and wear is the phenomenon of chemical loss or electrochemical reaction between the surface material and the surrounding medium during the relative movement of the surface of the friction pair, and the material loss caused by mechanical action. In the case of severe corrosion and wear, the material of the cylinder wall surface will peel off, and even when the relative movement of the friction pair surface occurs, the surface coating will lose the original material properties and be severely damaged.
