What is burning engine oil

2023-07-31

When it comes to burning engine oil, the idea that comes to mind is to be burned by the engine and emit blue smoke; Burning engine oil is an abnormal consumption of engine oil, which may enter the combustion chamber and be burned. It is also possible that the engine oil cannot flow back and may leak.
When burning engine oil in a car, the height of the oil dipstick should be checked first. During the interval between maintenance, as long as the oil level is between the highest and lowest points, it is normal.

Checking the oil dipstick is tricky. It is necessary to wait for the vehicle to cool down before checking the dipstick, as waiting for the oil to fall back below the oil pan is the best inspection time, otherwise it can easily cause misjudgment.
If a significant decrease in the oil level on the dipstick is observed, the engine can be observed for oil leakage. If there is no oil leakage from the engine, the exhaust gas can be checked for blue smoke.
If none of the above situations have occurred, then focus on observing whether there is a problem with the separation of gas and oil, which has caused the oil to block on the ventilation valve, and of course, it may also be in other positions.
In summary, it is important to distinguish between oil consumption and oil burning, otherwise misjudgment will only lead to excessive maintenance by car owners.
