Warning Signs: A "ticking" sound, like a small hammer lightly tapping a hard floor, is heard from the crankcase area; this is commonly known as "cylinder knocking." Oil pressure drops, becoming more pronounced during rapid acceleration. Cylinder knocking is a highly destructive mechanical failure, primarily caused by loose connecting rod bolts or excessive tension in the bolt neck, resulting in excessive clearance in the connecting rod shaft and causing the bolts to loosen or break. If knocking is present but the oil pressure is normal, it is not a sign of cylinder knocking; the issue should be considered in adjusting the fuel injection timing.
Remedial Measures: Immediately stop the engine for inspection and repair, replacing any faulty parts.
