Diesel engine mechanical failure (1)
The engine speed suddenly increases, accelerating uncontrollably with the throttle. There is an unusual, harsh sound, and a large amount of blue or black smoke is emitted from the exhaust.
"Runaway" refers to excessive idling and does not occur under load. It only occurs during startup or when the load suddenly decreases or decreases during operation. It is primarily caused by a malfunction in the speed governor system, resulting in uncontrolled fuel supply or excessive oil in the oil pan. If emergency measures are not taken immediately, the onset of "runaway" can ultimately lead to serious accidents such as cylinder jamming and axle breakage.
Solutions
The primary method of stopping the engine is to shut off the fuel or air supply. Possible emergency measures include: 1. Closing the throttle to control the fuel supply and applying the brake; 2. Blocking the intake manifold to cut off air flow; 3. Quickly releasing the high-pressure oil line to stop the fuel supply; 4. Applying high-pressure braking while the diesel engine is in motion can cause the engine to stall due to insufficient torque.
